[Beats on Baghdad Street] Wedok - A Forum Theatre by Hafidz Rahman
For generations, we’ve been taught to fear and despise the infamous female villains of Nusantara folklore. But who are these women, really?
Wedok (Girl) is a forum theatre-style performance that delves into the heart of these legendary figures, questioning what truly makes a villain. Join Wan Mahora (Mahsuri), Mak Kundor (Bawang Putih Bawang Merah), Permaisuri (Bidasari), Raja Ampuan (Dayang Senandong), and Puteri Indera Kaca (Si Tanggang) as they unravel the untold stories behind their actions and explore whether evil is truly nature or nurtured.
Are they villains, or are they victims of their own stories?
Beats on Baghdad Street is a series of outdoor performances presented by the Malay Heritage Centre that showcases the vibrancy of Malay arts and culture.
